It’s not exactly a Japanese pruning saw but, at the price, one shouldn’t expect it to be. It is, however, a high quality mass produced item that performs exceptionally well enabling the user to handle even large branches with consummate ease. And, as I have already suggested, the price is irresistible,

Fiskars makes a lot of good products so I decided to try their pruning saw. The first thing you notice is that it is not well balance. The handle feels like it is not aligned to the sawing action. When you saw it sort of floats on the wood. You have to apply pressure to get it to cut into the wood. I compared this saw to a Coronia razer cut professional saw. The Cononia is half the weigh. It is designed to cut on the pull stroke and has a replaceable blade like a Japanese pruning saw. It cuts into the wood with hardly any pressure and you are done in half the time. If you do a lot of pruning go with the Coronia.

If ever you are looking for a saw to prune trees, then this saw is for you. If your like me and had no clue for the longest time that there was a difference between a regular saw that you cut a piece of wood with and another to prune and cut tree branches with, then you’re not idiot. I didn’t and I’ve been around tools of certain kinds for most of life but never made the connection between the different class of saws besides the electric handsaw with the blade and jigsaw other than that I had no clue. Until my father told me, I was working to cut a branch or two and found it was back breaking work with the regular saw. When he mention the difference. I went to the local Home Depot, because it was close and I looked around at the saws for cutting branches on trees and spotted this one and bought it. Let me tell you this saw is excellent in its construction. The handle is smooth and easy to grip with light lacquer on it I think, the blade is curved as to get the whole branch. I could’ve got the 15″ inch, but I’m glad I got this 18″ inch instead. The blade is so sharp that cutting branches is easy, like cutting through butter. This is one saw that you should definitely get, worth the money. I’ve had this saw since last season and still works great and i used it alot.
Highly Recommended.
